E - Elusive

Why is so much about our craft elusive?

Chasing down the proper words can be like herding kittens. I'm sure I look quite brilliant sitting, staring at the wall, composing that perfect sentence in my head. Not typing a word because I'm stuck on the description for something that my Whole Plot hinges on!.

Finding an agent, I hear, is like harnessing the power of lighting. In fact this step is becoming so hard to conquer that most writers are skipping it altogether and going the self-published route. Honestly not sure how I feel about this. But I'm not here to Judge.

And that most elusive part of our craft of all. Acceptance. I've written my masterpiece! Found an agent! Polished it till it shone and now…Now it's up to the people. Popular vote rules all. Because without an audience, well

  3. Unfortunately...to get to the popular vote we have to go through the agents and publishers first. :)

  4. Thoughtful post. And there are many steps between going the agent route and going the self-publishing route. Like finding a good, small publisher that doesn't require agented submissions!

Nice to meet you and I hope you're enjoying the Challenge.
